The Campaign for École Polytechnique celebrates its first birthday with two new key figures...

- The barometer has reached the sum of 21 M€, which is broken down into:
    * 20 M€ in commitments received from 57 major donors;
    * 1 M€ in donations via the 2008 annual fund, received from 1,200 former students, 200 parents of students, a few friends and all the students in the 2006 year group through their Kès;
    * A contribution of 2.3 M€ in donations and commitments received from the École Polytechnique Charitable Trust (United Kingdom) and 1.7 M€ from the Friends of École Polytechnique (United States).
- A new target, raised from 25 to 35 M€, between now and 2012.

X is at the heart of a major international scientific and technological project as part of Operation Campus on the Plateau de Saclay. By 2015, there will be over 15,000 people living and working together on the Palaiseau campus alone, including 3,500 researchers and 8,500 students.

More than ever, the École needs the commitment of its former students to support this development. This is why the three foundations that support École Polytechnique in France, the United States and Great Britain have mobilised to ensure that every former student can contribute towards this great project at his own level. I am also counting on Kès members to embark on a variety of initiatives within their year groups to support their École's plans.
